Toque Latino
"El Toque Latino" Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
Host/Producer: Jimmy Castro
THE SHOW: “El Toque Latino” (The Latin Touch) was first heard as the only “Live” Latin radio broadcast in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania from October 8, 1998 to May 25, 2002. The show was heard every Saturday from 5pm to 7pm on WTCY 1400 AM - The Touch, and hosted by Jimmy Castro, New York City native & resident of Mechanicsburg, PA.
The show appealed not only to a large portion of the hispanic community in the listening area, but to many non-hispanic listeners as well. The primary coverage area of WTCY 1400 AM included Dauphin and Cumberland counties, the two most important counties in the Harrisburg Metro, plus portions of Perry, Lebanon, Lancaster and York counties. Because WTCY 1400 AM – The Touch was an Urban-Contemporary Radio Station, and never came close to competing with other radio stations in the area, the management decided to eliminate all programming that wasn’t Urban-Contemporary, thus ending the longest run of any commercial radio broadcast in the City of Harrisburg to feature Latin music.
Now begins a new era in Radio Broadcasting on SaborSalsa.com, and the opportunity for “El Toque Latino” to reach, even further than previously, a listening audience who hopefully will appreciate the best in Latin music, without the inconsistencies of commercial radio.
