The Latin Times - The Director/ Editor
-
Hola! As you're probably already aware, I am editor and producer of The Latin Times. You are probably also aware, that the aim of the site is to promote the Latin American culture, and spread the salsa "word"! It gives all "players" and entertainers in the Latin American entertainment industry in Australia a way to tell the world about what they are doing- what they are providing - and where they are providing it! The Latin Times also caters for the "smaller" players - those of us who don't run a nightclub!
In these pages you will find a mass of talent that can help you in many facets of entertainment, such as learning the congas and Salsa, to doing your tax in Spanish! The Latin Times is a young site, that, judging by the interest displayed so far from so many entertainment providers, promises to grow and prosper throughout 2000. The site was born from a discussion with some fellow salseros regarding the availability of information in the Latin entertainment industry. Most of you will leave a nightclub to find 3 or 4 pamphlets stuffed in every conceivable place on your car, under your windscreen wipers etc - and advertising like this is fine .... but what if there was one place you could go to get ALL information about what is happening in the Latin community ? A place that will not "age" like a pamphlet - but rather change with the times and reflect what is happening ? Our goal was to produce a one stop shop for information regarding the Latin Scene - and to provide some fun at the same time - see Dr Amor! What better way to achieve these goals than through the web ? Information can be updated and uploaded to our main server in seconds, and you view the results by dialling in and connecting to the web ANYWHERE in the world !
Things started to get exciting when pen was put to paper for the initial drafts of "The Latin Times" - It took approximately 3 months from concept to something concrete - And the sites name changed many times!... The mechanics of implementation was another matter altogether. The shear volume of information, made the task more and more daunting, and there were many times that I have thought about "letting it go". Finally, at the dawn of the new millennium, "The Latin Times" was born, and the first of much content was making it's maiden voyage through to the web servers in cyberspace! After initial testing, and getting feedback from visitors, it was clear that we had produced a site that would undoubtedly become a valuable tool in the search for Latin American entertainment, and a great means for people to advertise.
I would like to thank the countless amount of people that have sent us feedback, including the people that have given me feedback personally. With your help, The Latin Times can only improve! ¡Viva la Salsa!
